Moments of Couples

Class: Statics
What I learned today: how to calculate moments of couples. To only use the force contributing to the direction that the moment is tending towards.

Other Notes: I thought my professor was wearing a very smart outfit today. I didn't want to be the dork that told him, though. In the photo, the professor was demonstrating what direction the table would turn if he applied forces to two ends. He told us to remmeber this visual when using the right hand rule to determine if the moments were positive or negative. Positive moments are ones where the thumb of your right hand rule come out of the page.
